Why Romans 5?

The letter to the Romans, particularly Chapter 5, of the New Testament explains in detail how by one man the world was cursed, then again by one Man the world was saved. It is one of my favorite chapters. It is a good over-view of God's merciful love, though by nature He should have abandoned us.

Who is this Yeshua (Jesus)?

Around 2'000 years ago, a Nazarene Jew was born of a virgin woman (Matthew 1:18+, Luke 1:26+) and His name was prophesied to be Yeshua (which is Hebrew meaning "Salvation," though today we are more familiar with the Greek common name variant, "Jesus"). He had no biological father besides the Creator, Himself (Luke 1:31-35) and be considered God's only Son and the Savior of the world. He was the only human who committed no sin within His heart or His flesh.

Promise of Him can be traced back to the prophets Isaiah, the Psalms, Zachariah, Daniel, and many more ancient historic messages. What was His purpose? He came to take our sin (Isaiah 52:10+, 53:2-12+), which is the disobedience and separation of us from God. He was brought to us as the ultimate sacrifice which can only come directly as the Law-Maker (as His only Son) with authority over all things even death, as well as become flesh that He may die and overcome our curse for us that we may come freely back to God through him without shame and live with Him for all eternity after Judgment if we receive Him (Isaiah 54-55+) (John 3:16+).

For three years, Yeshua walked amongst the Jew and Gentile (non-Jew) and performed unexplained miracles. He healed the sick, the blind, the lame, the victims of wicked spirits, and illustrated to the people of God's mercy as well as even resurrected the dead (all of this to prove alone His authority).

Yeshua foretold of His own death many times while He was among the people. It occurred as prophesied that one of His own disciples betrayed Him and sold Him to the Pharisees and Sadducees, who had plotted to deliver Him to death by crucifixion (Matthew 26+, Mark 14+, Luke 22+, John 17+). He was beaten beyond recognition and He completed His mission for us once He died upon the cross.

Yeshua foretold in His life that He would awaken from the dead in three days after He was buried. He did just as He said He would and after revealing Himself to His disciples, Yeshua requested that they go on to what would be called the "Great Commission" and tell the world about Who He is and what He has done, and that He will one day return once and for all; that He would retake the world from our Enemy and make it new; that He would take and revive from this world all those who believe that He is the Son of God and the Vanquisher of Death.

Where is he?

After His crucifixion and resurrection, Yeshua ascended from earth to Heaven to join His Father. But He told His disciples that He was never truly leaving in the sense of abandoning us: He would have to leave in order to send down the Holy Spirit (also referred to as "the Helper" or "Helpers", even God's own Spirit) to help guide those who believe in Him. In this way, He and the Father would be permanently connected to us in a way that cannot be done with the flesh until Judgement.

He is with us as He is part of us, those who believe in Him as the Savior, though we cannot see Him like we can one another. This ensures our faith in Him with our hearts instead of following a false love because of His power.

Why do I need him?

You need Him more than just a secure place in Paradise when Judgement comes and earth--your own flesh--are destroyed in eternal existence without life in your soul: you need Him now.

Even here while we tarry on this plane of consciousness, we strive unbeknownst to ourselves for someone to love us and to love. Most of us (me) would like to believe that we can or must exist without this sort of love. The truth is that we cannot, because we were never created to be alone without Him. In fact, it is impossible since He is a part of everything. It would be His abandoning for all existence to be destroyed.

There are still conditions in the world that make us doubt a Good Creator. This would be a correct assumption if we mistake "good" for "self-beneficial." It takes faith in Him to know Him and to trust that He always has a plan which turns into good... we may miss it if we disbelieve Him. Thankfully, He is not a lesser god who needs us to exist. He continues His work whether we want Him to or not. But what great love and praise we receive when we do follow Him!

We do have an enemy who is much more powerful than us: you may be familiar with him portrayed as a red, horned, beast-man with a pitchfork or a seductive rebel angel. In truth, these are pathetic representations of a spiritual parasite. Satan does not desire you, or God, or forgiveness, or self-esteem, or truth, or power. Our enemy knows that the only way to affect God cannot be by his ability, so he uses the one thing that would ultimately break the Creator’s Heart: His creation. In fact, God allows Satan to intervene so that our hearts may be tested... after all, though God has the power to force us to obey Him, He chooses instead to give us free will.

This is Hell: to be lost in eternity with a self-possessed spiritual parasite who continuously crawls through you to get to something that will never fulfill him. Not only this, but your own soul will continuously crave and mourn, for eternity, the Hope you were created to have but you decided He was not enough.

Now you know God's desperation for you.

What if it were your own child who fell and broke his leg due to a bully? You are too concerned with your wounded child to revere the jerk who did it. You take him to a hospital where you learn that you can save his leg if he goes through a painful, but successful surgery. You explain the operation to your feverish child to no avail: you are not the one with a broken leg, after all. The only way to get him to understand that everything will be okay is to go to the same bully, have him break your own leg, and go through the surgery so that you can come out healed and prove to your child that they will be fine.

This is Yeshua. This is Salvation. And how do you receive it? You ask Him for it.

Do not burn incense to a lesser god, though that would be much simpler to giving your heart over to Someone you fear may not pull through. He is the Living God and he knows you better than you know yourself. All He wants is your wounds that He may heal you, but you must tell Him what those wounds are and admit you cannot do it alone.

I’m sure that it may feel like it sometimes because the Enemy is trying to crush you, you will find that you are not alone.
